Reykjavik is where 1000 year-old Viking history, modern culture, and some of the greatest wonders of nature sit side by side. It’s all literally just outside your door! You can walk the city central in a day, and yet there is always more to explore, more places to go.
There are definitely top places in the city to go, but to take in the feel of the city, take a walk down Austurstraeti to relax in Ingólfur Square. Visit a museum. Grab a coffee from Reykjavik Röst while you stroll along the shore of the old harbor and watch the boats come in, or better yet, hop on one for a puffin-watching trip!
Grab a truly delicious dinner at Sæta Svínið Gastropub, and then wander over to Tjörnin Pond, which is next to the national art gallery, so pop in for a visit! Doing research in Reykjavik is great because where else can you see glaciers, waterfalls, puffins, and Vikings, and yet feel like you live in a small town?
