There are several different internship and research opportunities within Climate Change and Environmental Science that are available in London: Climate Science, Earth and Life Science, Energy and Carbon Storage, Resources, Pollution and more.
We want you to have hands on experience in these leading research groups and organizations. The experience will help you continue to solve these generational challenges as you look to graduate school and your professional career.
King Arthur, Queen Elizabeth, and Shakespeare have all called England home. Now it’s your turn! Whether you’re riding the Tube to work or eating fish and chips in Marylebone, it’s sure to be legendary.
“All the world’s a stage,” a famous Brit once wrote, and there is arguably no more prominent stage than the streets of London. Buckingham Palace, Piccadilly Circus, and 10 Downing Street are just the beginning; it’s time to explore!
In addition to the fantastic experience you'll have, there are also three excursions included in the program. This allows you to learn more about London, England and the surrounding region.
Sophie attends Harvard University and interned in research with the Biomedical and Health Sciences group at the University of Roehampton in London, England.
What type of program did you experience?
At the beginning of my placement, I was taught how to use the resources to create chemical compounds on the computer. After I was well versed in these resources, I began to make several different compounds in silico. We then took those compounds and saw how they reacted when placed in the environment of a Dopamine, Seratonin, or Norepinephrine transporter.
How was Geoff, your onsite coordinator?
Geoff was the best. He kept us updated on all of the different events going on in London (which are a lot in the summer!). He was always there for us, and was such a great resource. He was also a lot of fun on the excursions. He really made the experience better than I could have imagined.
Would you recommend the program?
I would recommend this program to another student because the quality of the research is unparalleled. It is very hard to find science based research programs and it was best. They help you feel truly at home in the city.
